Head of Legal and Investigations

Corruption Watch seeks to appoint a head of its Legal and Investigations team, based in Johannesburg.

The suitable candidate will be an experienced lawyer looking for a challenging working environment outside of traditional practice. They will have experience/interest in anti-corruption work, constitutional, administrative, procurement and media law, and will have people and financial management skills.

Corruption Watch is a non-profit, civil society organisation. We receive reports of corruption from the public. We investigate certain reports, expose corruption through our communications platforms and mobilise the public to take a stand against corruption and the abuse of public funds. We engage in impact litigation, and make submissions to parliamentary processes and commissions.


  • An LLB or equivalent;
  • Admission as an attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa;
  • 5 years post-qualification experience;
  • Litigation experience;
  • Research and writing skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills;
  • Computer skills;
  • Excellent people and programme management, administrative and file management skills; and
  • Ability to adapt in a fast changing environment.


  • Managing Corruption Watch’s legal and investigative work.
  • Influencing the legislative and policy framework governing corruption in South Africa, through commenting on legislation and policies and writing opinion pieces, among others.
  • Advising management on all legal issues affecting Corruption Watch’s work.
  • Briefing counsel.
