SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Tracking Trends in Public Procurement
DESCRIPTION:Join us\, with Prof Geo Quinot – founding director of Stellenbosch University’s African Procurement Law Unit – as we share a new report revealing our findings on the latest trends in public procurement in South Africa. \n\n\n\nThese findings are based on insights we have gathered from our Procurement Watch tool\, launched in October 2021. Procurement Watch scrapes a range of procurement data from the National Treasury website and outputs it in an accessible\, searchable and graphical format. We plan to make this tool available to a select user group as part of a separate workshop on 18 August – details will follow in due course. \n\n\n\nWe will unpack what public procurement is\, why it matters from an anti-corruption and public interest perspective\, and how civil society and media can add value in this area. \n\n\n\n\n Moderator: \n\n\n\nTharin Pillay – legal researcher\, Corruption Watch \n\n\n\nIntroduction: \n\n\n\nKaram Singh – executive director\, Corruption Watch \n\n\n\nGuest speaker: \n\n\n\nGeo Quinot – professor of Public Law at Stellenbosch University\, founding director of the African Procurement Law Unit \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER

SUMMARY:DISCUSSION: Unpacking the Zondo Report: Public and Corporate Morality
DESCRIPTION:The Catholic Parliamentary Liaison Office and the Hanns Seidel Foundation cordially invite you to join us for a discussion on Unpacking the Zondo Report: Public and Corporate Morality. \n\n\n\nThe Zondo Commission’s reports confirm that corruption is endemic in South African government institutions and state enterprises. But the reports don’t tell us why moral and ethical standards are so low in public life and in so many of the companies that do business with government. \n\n\n\n\nVenue: Holiday Inn Garden Court\, Nelson Mandela Boulevard\, Cape Town. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nProf William Gumede\, executive chairperson\, Open Democracy FoundationKaram Singh\, executive director\, Corruption Watch\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
