On Tuesday, 10 February 2026, global anti-corruption movement Transparency International will release its annual Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). South Africa’s score in relation to perceptions of tackling public sector corruption in the country during 2025 will once again be revealed, reflecting progress, stagnation, or decline in its corruption prevention strategies since the previous year.
The 2025 CPI measures perceived levels of public-sector corruption in 182 countries and territories, drawing on 13 independent data sources and using a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).
The index assesses how countries have responded to corruption not only in the past year, but over time, reviewing progress and failures over the last decade and beyond. The analysis this year will focus on updated scores and rankings of the 182 participating countries, analysis of what is driving major global trends, regional and country examples as well as expert recommendations on how to control corruption risks.
