Corruption Watch (CW) will release its annual corruption report, Ke Nako: Mobilising for justice, on Monday, 25 May 2026. The report comes as the organisation sets out on its new development path of Vision 2030 that will define its strategic direction for the next four years.
Ke Nako will highlight a wide range of focus areas during 2025, such as procurement, investigations, land corruption, leadership appointments, climate governance and integrity, gender and corruption, and the Strengthening Action Against Corruption project, among others. Developments such as the recent Madlanga revelations show that the wheels of justice are turning and accountability mechanisms are in motion, and the fight against corruption in these areas is more relevant than ever.
In last year’s annual report, we called for our supporters to be accountable together, to counter the upward trajectory of corruption enabled by the weak enforcement of the rule of law and restore order in our daily lives. In a follow-up to that call, this year we issue the rallying cry to mobilise for justice so that South Africa can rebuild confidence in its law enforcement apparatus, even as the core of the country’s criminal justice system is tested through processes like the Madlanga commission.
Last year CW also referred to the transitional period during which we embarked on a period of interim leadership, following the departure of the former executive director in January 2025. The arrival of our new executive director in January 2026 has re-anchored the organisation and reinvigorated its vision and commitment to supporting democratic processes and the people whose lives are meant to be enhanced by democracy.
